Overplucking the eyebrows, hair loss and even fair hair color can cause unwanted insecurities. Various individuals have turned to manually filling in their brows, with the help of makeup tools, as the solution. However, that can become time consuming. Not to mention, it may even wash off at the beach or by accidently rubbing or touching your brows through out the day.
It is for these reason that we, at Wellness Med Art, are proud to offer Microblading at our NYC and Forest Hill locations. With Microblading, you can contour the brows, revealing darker, more defined and elongated eyebrows, without the hassle of filling them in, for up to 18 months.
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo procedure performed to fill in or replace missing or thinning eyebrow hair. This technique works by manually depositing pigment into the surface layer of the skin, through gentle strokes, which resemble and appear as the individual’s natural hair. Known as a customized procedure, the individual may choose the shape, color and length of the brows. The results reveal bolder, more defined eye brows for up to 18 months.*
How does Microblading differ from tattooing?
Microblading and tattooing may appear as though they hold a lot in common, however, they also differ in comparison. To begin, microblading utilizes a special facial tool, or a microblading pen, as opposed to a machine. In addition, no printed designs are utilized as microblading is customized to each individuals’ aesthetic goals and face symmetry. Furthermore, with Microblading the pigment is not inserted as deeply as a cosmetic tattoo, allowing it to naturally fade over a twelve-month course. This allows for a semi-permanent treatment, in which the individual may change the brows shape, length and color over time.
What is the procedure like in NYC?
The procedure begins with a consultation, in which you will be given the opportunity to express the desired shape and shade for your eyebrows. At the start of the procedure, one of our trained specialists will utilize a state of the art microblading tool to create hair like strokes and shading over the brows. Each stroke is created with precision and care, mimicking the brows natural direction. A pigment matching the shade of your natural brows will then be deposited into the channels created, resulting in natural looking eyebrows. The procedure generally last from 1-2 hours, depending on the individual. Pain is considered to be minimal, with many clients referring to the sensation of the microblade as a mild scratch.
What are the benefits?
- No longer worry about filling in sparse eyebrows with makeup tools
- Natural looking results
- Long lasting: 12-18 months
- Customized to your face and aesthetic desire
With Microblading, we advise for our patients to return for a touch up within 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment. During this session, we will add more pigment to the brows, following the original strokes. The reason for this is because as the brows heal, they may lose some color and present patches of a lighter hue. However, every individual heals differently, requiring some to get a touch up after 6 months, while others may not need one for a year.
Post-treatment, eyebrows may appear between 20-30% darker than the desired hue. However, this effect is normal and should begin to naturally fade within 3-4 days, revealing your desired color. There are no side effects associated with Microblading, however, some individuals may experience slight inflammation. This reaction is normal and should subside naturally within a few hours post-treatment.
